SHIPS with lessons

Each of us in some part of life would have to sail on certain ships and we tend to interpret it as tedious events that drain so much of energy where most of it escapes while we learn to stir the ship on our own. It’s never an easy task to board on a ship without any guidance yet all of us do and the outcome is certainly something worthwhile and the sacrifices done will surely turn out to be good memories. Well, there are a few ships that really teach about life throughout the journey of obtaining knowledge.

FriendSHIP is the most soul penetrating ship that comes with a package of emotions and the resulting outbursts tend to take a toll at times. Friends for life are generated throughout this phase of education and especially for those who are genuinely attentive towards friends at the most needed time then they will be starred or highlighted in the life’s diary. Some come with a preposition and shake hands while some come with a permanent agreement and make sure there’s no absence during the journey. People with different facades really make us appreciate life regardless of the backstab and pain that comes and torment us temporarily leaving scars that contribute to our rise or cause one to reprise the events shading away from light. All and all it’s always a trip worth holding up to in our mind compared to scaling it up in phones and albums as moments worth reminiscing.

Every success comes with long queues of perseverance and that hardSHIP tends to leave some distinctive standing point or resemblance for ourselves which differentiates us from another person. Those sleepless nights accompanied by a cup of hot coffee and cool breeze turns into exclusive nights described in a whole new level. The extremity in us will be put to test making us speechless seeing our own capability. Every sunrise is treasured for it marks another day which gives hope and possibilities of gaining another chance to attempt something new. Positive vibes might not at all times secure an optimistic outlook but it surely fuels back the heart with encouragement and satisfies the soul with enough fire to not be laid back. Enough strength is then found to secure the fire from vanishing, keeping goals and visions intact and ensures one is in line with their destiny or ambitions.

Besides that, some find their potential soul mate by mapping their way from north till south while some go across the seas (Sabah & Sarawak). A relationSHIP is officially secured and a promise is sealed to stay beside each other without withdrawal. The synchronization of hearts that can calm down chaos in mind is something worth treasuring apart from the purpose that one initially came into the institution. A focused mind will not be sidetracked when importance is supplemented in equal amount. Both parties will ensure they achieve their ambition by being each other’s pillar of strength and at times accept silence as the answer for un-recruited confusions. Sometimes multiple attitudes are attended without judgments and it allows one to know another without discretion.

Shying away from all does not tune along the entire life and the bonus point would be fighting over it by the sudden throw of responsibility causing one to lead a group of potential people. The gates towards LeaderSHIP will always be locked when we disregard the art of outshining through cracks and defects. No one is specifically chosen to be someone but it all depends on the decision one makes. The star of the day can be many people at once or just one who concludes everything smartly and gains enough points to proceed to the next stage. Everything does not subject into our favor but it is about persuading what you step foot into and continue it without backing off. The stress disguised by the courage and determination will be challenging and when all comes to an end it forms a strong foundation that gives one access to multiple areas without doubting their capability.

Moreover, a whole semester of InternSHIP will not go unforgotten; maybe not a hot topic or favorite topic to talk about for some but certainly something which will be opted to look back when facing tough situations in working areas. The first exposure towards the reality gets one to be thrown back due to the drastic adjustments that need to be done and sometimes it gives all a tough time to include memories and people from the past. Time constraint will become a major reason and it’ll be affecting our loved ones to the extent where every silence will be pinpointed as ignorance. Dealing with all this secures patience within us and prays for all the silent thoughts to be acknowledged while fulfilling the requirements to complete where we started as well as learn values that aids in achieving the desired life.

At last becoming the rightful owner of a scroll that declares one’s achievement not only as a graduate but also as a contributor towards the society; the moment can only be explained through smiles and tears of joy. This ownerSHIP declares the faith our parents hold upon us, the belief where educators and our loved ones showered on us and most importantly the willpower of our own that ensured we don’t rest till success is attained. A part of life is concluded in a land that gathers everyone to witness the hidden talents while new places awaits to be explored. The belief of surviving in a place where everything seems to be new makes one become a fighter and when the announcement is made to walk up the stage it surely makes one to beam with pride since we have successfully sailed across the sea.

The real-life challenges are about to start and a whole new environment awaits to welcome ‘graduates’ with open hands only when there is the willingness to resurface no matter how much the situations threaten to submerge you. A survivor is born through many defects so there’s no need to explain perfection but don’t give up on displaying who you are through the work etiquettes. Let there always be pride to be one of the productions of UMK! CONGRATULATIONS & Good luck seniors @ UMK graduates!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Who will ever forget their first day of University or college especially when it’s not a 10 minutes’ drive from home? It’s always hard to be away from home and the warm welcome from family but despite that each of us still pack our things and gets ready to leave even though the pain within denies the departure and wishes to be delayed or canceled. Once, you have seen the building a slight tremor forms and it’ll be a little at ease with our family right beside us and of course, it’ll become better when unfamiliar faces start to share a smile. So, the overall day lights up just that the first week will be a little sleep deprived with the only objective of extending the excitement and it's part of the welcoming ceremony by the university itself. 😁

 

Being a JUNIOR is definitely one of the best times in University life but we don’t realize it till we gradually step out of that zone giving away to the next batch to have a taste. In previous years there was bullying where being a junior comes with fearsome but in this civilized era there are no longer extreme cases and the bonding seems to be a little instant without hesitation. A very much highlighting thing in the upcoming juniors in my institution would be their fashion sense and sometimes we have to ask them for some tips I guess. A head start towards fashion just makes them much more admired and with a smile and a simple ‘HI’ seriously there’s nothing more welcoming than that.

The special thing when it’s being a JUNIOR is the innocence mixed with a little awkwardness. When Seniors question, it’s always the truth and there will be no judgment when it comes to sharing things. Sometimes the innocence comes with a layer of protective coat and certain conversations will end up awkwardly. Of course, the most surprising thing will be the naughtiness that gets locked up or suppressed with the need to put up a good impression forgetting that the hidden mischievousness is something very much admirable. It is fun to see that part because it assures comfort and the happiness that radiates makes the unnecessary worries to fly away giving way for a good memory to be created.

Being the youngest also comes with the privilege of gaining a big brother or sister. The concern and affection that lies on each other make the wish of being close to family come true. Of course, nothing is more important when compared to our beloved family back at home but this family which is formed through imperfections, guides and protects within the walls of University and also extends until the end of life. The messages and time to time voice and video calls just make the love bloom and the blessing itself make life merrier. The bonding period long or short does not judge what you are or who you should be instead motivates and stays through thick and thin acknowledging each other’s presence even winning over time which sometimes does not budge.

A phase of learning new things is also another key thing of being a JUNIOR. Throughout life, we keep on learning and there’s no stopping but during this specific phase, life will be seen from a totally new perspective. Friends for life are gained and the funny part would be the self-interpretation done and commented on them which then turn out to be wrong once you get to know them personally. Living in the same room with the same people and talking over hot drinks till late night is one of the new things that become a routine and enjoyment. It then gets extended till inviting Seniors and the circle of communication and connection gets widen giving way to experiences and unexpected talks which end in thinking how unique each person turns out to be and with that comes adaptation.

 

Above all this, this is an important phase because this is where one will be able to create their own standing point and find the answers to questions they have been dwelling in life. Some come with an entirely different motive and enter the gates that welcome them but find their turning point here and from there onwards, life will be from a different angle. This is also the phase where one will start to fight their fears and find the courage to step in front an audience who might or might not favor them. Unexpected situations then build and define your strengths and weaknesses will be composed. The mask which is worn to avoid weird stares will be removed and with that, every footstep will have its own significance and every mile of the journey will come with a lesson that is not acquired from the classroom or books.

Being a JUNIOR is a real privilege and since it happens only once in a lifetime do not let go of the opportunity of being wild and innocent. Do not let fear conquer you because it’ll pull you away from picturing the real deal behind an event and the optimism will be left far behind. Every spare time you gain take it as a blessing and coax yourself to do something different. Dear juniors, we as seniors are always willing to give the best talks and we always want the best for you guys as well. Regardless of a late bloomer or a fast survivor each of you is a true gem and we wish you would realize that as well and reveal your true identity. Make wonderful memories and who knows something may await you around the corner waiting to make you smile!

Believing in the IMPOSSIBILITY

Impossibility starts within us when the moment we start to believe that something is hard to achieve and does not lie within our range of capability. Of course, insane ideas cannot be comprehended but what about your dreams that you feel certain about? For sure others will make you doubt your own capacity but then don’t give up so fast because till you don’t give a try you will not know. We are never born as a failure but we do go through failures to make us stronger, wiser and bolder. All of us are a winner just that for that declaration to come from us really takes a lot of time and thinking. 

Firstly we believe in the impossibility by having courage. Intimidating events are just so many that we will keep on replaying it in our mind without even hitting the pause button. Fear governs our way faster than courage and it makes us hard to process the fact that it’s just an element that exists in order to fix the mind which rotates thinking fear has the upper hand. In short, in existence of fear courage builds and it’s not just about coaxing one to come out of that zone but to build that determination to finish where you started. Fear loves to stir all our emotions into one big pot of soup. So what should we do then? Have a taste of that soup and add in a little salt and pepper if necessary because remember you’re the ultimate cook and a certified destiny maker. Face your fears without backing off that’s the key component to be courageous.

 

 Idealize yourself has someone that enables you to conquer the impossibility. You can be like anyone. Maybe it could be any superhero you see from movies or even real-life heroes who have made you seen life in a different way. Of course, you might wonder how superheroes are able to give this impression of conquering impossibility. Well, learn the lesson behind their actions and put it in your term. For example, Spiderman makes his way through scenes that require his attention through the sticky webs he releases from his wrists and for normal humans like us maybe the significance and the speed of the web can be related to the number of people we are able to connect to save the person on time at the scene. Never misinterpret the extreme actions on screen and put it into action then it’ll turn out to be a mishap which puts your life in danger instead of saving one. 

 

Besides that, invite challenges since it’ll give you the strength to pull through hardships when you’re on your way in putting the impossibility into action. Challenges don’t really favor everyone especially those who have this perception of life should be simple and a day is just another ordinary day which has 24 hours and includes the daily chores and there's working to ensure our stomach is fed. To add up a little spice, a little entertainment and enjoyment to make life thrilling but does this kind of life really make living worthwhile? Believing in the impossibility makes one savor challenges and accept it as tests that bring out the best in them. Challenges are a platform that ensures we realize our potential and utilize it to the maximum and don’t claim defeat in an instant. Through challenges, an impossible failure is born.

 

Impossibility stands at the edge asking you to wake up from your dream since most of us sometimes just dream away the impossibilities after so many tries and errors.  So it’s now in our hands, to sleep away the dream or walk away with the fulfillment of execution with or without the confirmation of grasping victory. It’s totally different feeling when you start to live with the impossibility and believe that you will be able to hang on to the faith that is slipping away. The impossibility might be a totally unforeseen or uncontrollable situation and it puts you through so much and makes you feel at the edge. It does not cater for your feelings and seriously makes you miserable and makes you wish for life to come to an end instantly. But the moment you stand at the edge taking an oath to take a ride regardless of the stops then here you are awakening from your dreams of impossibility with the willingness to make it happen.

Moreover, understand and make peace with the elements or components surrounding the impossibility. Let there be a balance so that the inner peace will always remain composed. The struggle of achieving the impossibility will always be because we are opposing certain emotions which are here to stay and deliberately take a few steps back instead of being a soldier who fights for justice; it’s easy said that proven. So, make it happen by bringing opposites together like Yin and Yang but to initiate the positive side is not that easy with so many people telling that their opinions should be highly considered. Push away all those and just listen to your heartbeat and find the reason for those beats. Is it just about pumping blood to the whole body system or is it to pump adrenaline and drive the inner passion to achieve the impossibility? 

“Do not just believe in the impossibility, be ONE”, that’s what Barry Allen the hero from Flash TV series says. Well, what he says might not be in everyone’s life page but it can be something worth thinking about because when there’s hard work and above all a fierce determination it’ll surely lead you to success and be an awakening for the rest out there. Pull through whatever comes in life and enjoy those which come by surprises making you speechless. History is made when a day is not seen as another ordinary day and each of us has it in us to be part of it. Never underestimate yourself!

Just ONE minute

Time is precious they say where once gone it’ll be a memory or a regret. However, the tendency for us to treasure a minute is rare due to our negligence or let’s says desires that put us through a huge strangle of decisions making us fight for some solid hours. In one minute anything can happen, where our breathing might stop, a car might hit us or even a decision might be finalized totally changing our life phase. So, just one minute may be scary as well where it might just temporarily give us this urge to disappear into the background and let ourselves be buried into the earth. Feeling defeated is so stressful yet once it has passed it’ll be left in the past. 

Actually, a minute is beautiful because of its ability to compress all the good moments and make us reminisce it again and again. The beauty of a minute is never disclosed with a reason and with that we sum up as one minute is irrelevant for any occasional phone calls or meetups. But the true beauty of a minute gets revealed when you are given the opportunity to hold your loved ones hand for one last time or talk on the phone after being separated for years. That moment of tears will hold so much of hope for the one minute to get extended and that’s the very sole reason for that one minute to be beautiful. Each tick of the clock will be heard clearly and we will treasure it along with those single second of silent stare, a single second of a lump in the throat, a single second of indulgence into each other’s eyes and the entire background will disappear only revealing the magical moment that time itself created. 

Besides that, a minute is delicate and subtle making one be wise in their choice of words since it can end in an unanticipated consequence turning the entire day miserable. In anger easily words get along the way making regret to settle after a while and then it proceeds for a certain period in the name of revenge or just to let the other party feel what is it like to be vulnerable. But just for a change if we just allow the steam to be let off by either party, let it evaporate and then include some logical explanation later like dancing to the tempo of music then there’ll no longer be any distress cue but only prolonged silent affection for each other. Rephrasing a sentence takes a lot of effort especially right after blowing up a situation that is supposed to end in laughter but it's ok to be late a minute than never.

A minute is precious as well because it goes way beyond words to express it and one wouldn’t know it till they feel it. Our common one-minute events in life would be a minute late to class, a minute late till the due for an assignment, a minute till the results are out and so on. But when one minute is wrapped with care and patience it is precious. Those emotions stand at the highest rank in perceiving a situation very much carefully without causing any damage to anyone. One’s attitude and actions depend on a minute which results in a positive or negative first impression. A respond towards a situation will also reflect our nature or true identity and in split seconds it may cause a drastic lifelong change. Believe it or not, in extreme situations we will plead for just a minute.

A memorable gift is formed when you compile all those one minutes and even just putting a smile on someone’s face still counts. Lighting a person’s day is never easy because we don’t know what runs in their mind or what dilemma they are facing. But instead of asking why the dull face let’s just erase that mask and lighten the mood by creating an image which is worth taking a ‘Selfie’, by just a curve of one small line on the face. Sometimes what money does cannot be equaled to that one-minute effort which comprises of sincere thoughts. It might turn out to be a simple message or wish but its value is incomparable to any gifts or souvenir out there because it conveys the beauty of the heart. It just takes the mind and soul to mix up something and present a memorable minute.

On top of that, a minute is a blessing and gives us the opportunity to realize how lucky we are.  In a minute we might meet someone new and gain a lifetime friendship or we might meet the ONE and get settled in life since that minute is not a scheduled attempt but rather coincidence or maybe fate. Our planned destiny sometimes just surpasses us without our knowledge since we don’t have control over that but we are given choices to make and that minute is a blessing since it’s in our hands to choose. Just getting saved from a mishap is not the only one that is considered a blessing sometimes our mistakes and challenges are blessings as well but of course, we don’t immediately realize it but it’ll come to our mind gradually, making us remind the event all over again.

Thus, just one minute is enough to express or show case so many things. Even a rainbow does not promise to stay long right after it rained as such just a few golden minutes can certainly turn a day very much beautiful. But instead of focusing on gathering a few minutes just focus on one and from there we will start to value the small details which may be present and when given a long time frame we might not acknowledge its certainty. Unexpected situations sometimes push one into where time never gets synchronized but treasure just one minute and what is close to the heart will remain as such until the end of life; the world will be a better place to live.

I am SOMEONE [Part 5]

We come into this world without anyone, but instead of facing everything alone we are given parents to raise us and a family who nurtures us with love and teaches the spirit of togetherness and these values are then brought outside in the name of survival. In the outside world, we will never easily turn out to be SOMEONE but most of the time it’ll be NO ONE. This kind of scenarios tends to make us feel as though we don’t belong here or feel unwanted but that is where we will receive those SPECIAL ONES who welcome us and willingly grabs hold of our hand and walks forward with us. Those blessings in disguise will make us realize that we are SOMEONE.

He is a good friend when he realized they do not only get acquainted with him in order to complete their tasks but also to create memories which include new adventures and a whole lot of laughter. He was there with them without allowing them to endure the pain or challenges on their own. The long list of contacts will not be scrolled often but he knows each of them and acknowledges their presence at the right time and surprises them unexpectedly. Even though the disappointing part in friendship would be betrayal and backstabbing he gracefully learned the art of defending and encourages the beautiful part of friendship which called as trust to blossom and retain until the end of life. 

He's a dedicated teacher right after acquiring life’s experiences in the most unexpected, twisting and challenging way allowing only optimism to light his way. Every darkness had a silver lining and he puts it through words where others especially the younger generation feel very much energized disregarding any intimidating situations that come their way. As a teacher, he does not only teach through sharing but he too learns from others through their perspective on life and takes it as an opportunity to refine himself in a better way. The best tool for teaching is replacing authority with patience and flexibility whereby each criticism is taken as an advice to improve and all questions that are being bombarded is answered without wearing a bulletproof jacket.

 

Besides that, he is a responsible employee where he does not only apply the hidden lessons behind the rules only in his workplace but brings it with him to any relevant places. A conducive working environment comes along with mutual respect for each other since without that mannerism and cooperation won’t be there making things complicated. The productivity rate of an employee is proportional to the amount of peacefulness that is stored within them. Thus, he spreads the happiness by a simple smile and initiates a conversation to give an optimistic head start. He goes all out to complete a work just to satisfy him with yet another extraordinary accomplishment.

He is a good fighter and racer and it’s not like those extreme violence scenes that are shown on television but it’s a war over desires and goals. Desires which hit temporarily get relinquished and are replaced with much more important visions. As a human, our mind gets easily distracted and it requires a full force fighter to stay put from taken aback by desires. The list is imprinted in his mind and he keeps on sketching the plan which needs to be initiated to hit the goal on point. Of course, sometimes the shot is not forceful enough but it molded him into a much stronger version. He is into racing as well where the key is not about how many cars are ahead of us but reaching the finishing line on time.

He is a brother who looks after his little brother with care while agreeing to his terms and conditions to have fun. Age is not a limit to have fun like the old times and he lets it conquer a small part of his life as a reminder of the soul that waits at home despite the last night’s fight. Years have passed making them hold on to their childhood memories that play a big role in their bonding and in reality they keep on pressing the rewind button reminiscing those days fondly. To him it’s still the same but,  there’s no longer only play time but in additional there’s chat time which gives so much meaning for their transformation from small kids.

 

He is a son whom his mother is proud of. All the family needs are taken care off even though there’s a long list that he has to settle on hand before even giving a thought for the next step. However, the priority he gives for every problem till a solution is found result with a heartfelt welcome whenever he returns home. There’s no future without his family in it and he is also very much thankful for who he is now. Sacrifices are beautiful when it is done out of expectations and he sees this through his mother who genuinely wishes the best for him and comes upon with the best remedies to heal his broken heart. It’s an undeniable fact that at first there’ll be putting the blame on each other but at the end, there was only unconditional love for each other.

All these puzzles when put together makes him a potential leader because, qualifying oneself is the most important criteria before accepting a position which defines elegance in each action instead of appearance. He believes that one should be an example to the society and not only focus on creating history which carves your name as the ultimate contributor. He walks down the road realizing his not as outstanding as the rest out there but when the doors were open he couldn’t just ignore it. He walked with a momentum that he promised to keep up regardless of the pitfalls that wait to drown him. Sometimes the journey is alone while sometimes there are hands that are willing to help but throughout the journey, he learned to be stronger and bolder.

Being SOMEONE different is something to be proud about because the combinations of different people make the world a beautiful place to live. Uniqueness should be looked upon highly so that everyone will never have to refrain themselves from revealing who they really are and he realized this should start from him at first. His phone started to ring and before attending the call he stood in front the mirror and felt blessed for who he is and with a smile he attended the call.

Holding hands till the end [Part 4]

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and was impressed with my style before leaving home. Being just 17 seems to be a big responsibility for me since maintaining good looks together with my grades comes with a lot of hard work. My playful attitude sometimes does not keep me in line but that’s when I recall those days where my big brother will be right beside me watching over me like I’m a small kid and he still does in discreet. There’s always a problem when it comes to showing affection especially between the male gender; the need to maintain a tough face. I’m always the apple of the eye at home, while my brother will be the hard core who seems to carry around a stern face but I just know how to melt that tender heart.

A 7 years age gap sometimes turns out to be a huge boundary between siblings making the bonding to be little difficult in certain cases. The little one might still be a school student while the elder will be working or maybe a high school student versus a kindergarten kid. Of course, through people’s eyes, it looks cute but in reality to find the common ground is quite tough. Apart all those things that stop us from initiating a conversation, both of us found ourselves holding each other’s hand guiding our way through life. Beholding our fate has brothers; we smiled through rough roads without questioning the reason for the occurrence and plugged in a set of earphones where one ear allowed the music to slip through while the other allowed for informative gossips to slip in.

When I was in primary school, my big brother will bring me to coaching/tuition classes right after heading back from work. His secondary school life revolves around two major events; one work and the other was school. He fulfilled the requirement as a student and at a young age insisted on contributing to the family’s welfare. Right after work, with sweat beads on his forehead, my big brother brings me and one day I asked that if he did not feel tired. 

“When we start to question hard work then we will never feel the need to work. Rewards can only be seen slowly but once obtained its valued highly.”

That is one of the moments I looked highly of him and till now I’m amazed by his hard working attitude and firing passion to be someone respectful in society.

 

Sometimes there’s an advantage of being the youngest; we gain the entire attention and sometimes the eldest feels a little unfairness but deep down I’m very much thankful to my big brother. He was raised as a disciplined child where that included some old style canning but when I was born there was no more repeating that because my mother believed on my big brother’s footsteps and that’ll be my guide. He is mischievous and there’s a long list of naughty crimes he has committed as a teen but of course, it’s not left far behind and it’ll be recalled as memories which have pushed him forward with a force like those fast and furious cars move till the tires get worn out. The worn tires would resemble his hard work.

Just to get a work done my big brother will have a hard time to close his eyes since all he pictures is the completion of the work. Of course, this is massively seen in his working environment though I know we as a part of the family will be in his mind starting from sunrise till the day comes to an end. Even though there are two us where we equally can share the burden but being the eldest at home gives more authority to him in a good way. My playfulness and stylish updates on social medias do brush off on my big brother but he knows what is to be prioritized while I’m still using Google maps to find my way into the world. It’s remarkable how my mother has brought him up because if no both of us would most probably end in a dream world instead of attending the real world.

Currently, we don’t really meet often, but sometimes my big brother does come home if his work bound here or if there’s a long holiday. We round the area as though we owned it for centuries and when it’s time to say goodbye we gracefully seal our moments together in our heart. Of course, we don’t often say the three words but we have our own way of valuing each other’s presence in this life as siblings and I do know there’ll never be a replacement for the man who always stands by me anywhere and anytime. It may seem possible in his busy schedule but he has his own way of handling things and my big brother will always be my biggest gift.
