Our
birth is officially declared and written in a paper that states our name, date of birth,
day and includes other crucial details. From there we start to sketch or
scribble on papers with a pencil. Our mother will fill entertained and happy
with our childish scribbles even though it does not bring any meaning and never
flawless. Yet it will be stuck on the fridge with a good comment. We go to kindergarten and are given crayons,
color pencils, and sometimes paint to decorate the white paper but somehow we
still use a pencil to write on lined papers. Then we proceed to primary school,
secondary and higher institutions to further our education. Even though we are upgraded to using a pen
the comfort the pencil gives can never be replaced regardless of the normal 2B
or mechanical pencil which is mostly the famous Pilot pencil.
We
enter the workforce and it becomes a permanent routine to use a pen. Every time
there will be a necessary to use a pen. We write the list of groceries or
errands, sign a document and so on. Without a pen and paper, a marriage
registration cannot be done and the same goes for a fund transfer or property
transfer or even declaring death. Life itself revolves around many things and
one of it is this pen and paper. However, we somehow find the courage to deal
with the major things in life except for holding the pen to write the answers
on an exam sheet. There’ll be the common stress and fear which makes us
repulsive towards examination. Many of us have confidently overcome it while
some have a different way of tackling this pen and paper.
Well,
when my friend was in primary school Science was not really my friend’s cup of
tea but there was a strict advice from mom to not leave the paper empty during the exam. Without
knowing what to write and thinking of a way to escape mom’s glares my friend
wrote “Don’t know” in the space which was provided to write answers. After the
marks were out, mom was very angry and there was no escape from her chase. In
the middle of the chase, my friend got furious and questioned mom,
“You
asked me not to leave the paper blank and that’s what I did. Then why you are
angry mom?”
“I
said don’t leave it empty means write what you know not don’t know!” and the
chase continued.
But
that didn’t really determine my friend’s future. My friend turned a new piece of paper
despite the many unturned ones my friend left behind. Courage and faith on
destiny didn’t hold my friend back from holding a pen and filling the higher
education application form and the best part will be sitting for exams in the
higher institution where my friend got an admission. My friend soared high despite the
need to tear the unwanted papers here and there and is now doing well. A transformation of the paper and pen to one's own preference.
Of
course writing ‘DON’T KNOW” in exams is never advisable, but let your mind and
soul judge the paper and pen instead of letting it judge you. Put up to your
mind and allow it to understand what you are inserting because bluntly writing
what you scrunched in 2 hours might not be there no matter how hard you try to
spill it.
So, govern your mind and soul with serenity and let it transform the
pen and paper fear into something that is worth reading from your perspective.
Be true to your efforts and let positive vibes conquer the 2P’s which has the
power to determine your life and let it be a glory to get your name written in history.
