The colors of life

When we arrive to this world we are unable to differentiate colors and whatever seen through our eyes are only in black and white. We sleep a whole lot to give way for our system to develop and then we slowly start to differentiate colors. There’s a long list of colors and all of those start with the basic colors which are red, yellow and blue.  Art lessons in school teach us how to mix the colors and produce new ones and with that, we color or construct pictures and bring them to life. Colors have the power to become the angels as well as the demons of our life.

In life, colors can be seen in a wide range especially through the people we meet in our daily life since people are the transporters who lead one to a different dimension. In those dimensions, we see multiple celebrations, emotions, transitions and so on. Those are the opportunities which allow us to get the colors to be expressed and be combined in our life. These colors then become one’s trademark or identification which highlights their existence and proves that their uniqueness belongs to this world too. Even though there are daily scenarios which connect humans, the most powerful connection can be seen through celebrations which define the beauty of each community. The diversity makes us closer when we start to be thankful and utilize social medias to express the love.

There are many categories of celebrations and mostly all fall annually. Sometimes the celebrations will fall on the same day and as they say the more the merrier. Celebrations bring us close to our loved ones because those who are far will fly just to spend time with family and loved ones on this special day. However, those unfortunates one who is stranded due to work or studies will end up being sad or on the contrary create a new memory which becomes an additional color to their palette of life.

Well, the good thing about being far is we will explore more and with that, there’ll be more bonding which sometimes makes us scream with frustration and maybe scream with excitement too. So with the motive bringing more colors to life, the Tamil Language Unit club in my campus will be hosting “Aghniyin varnam” annually which carries the meaning colors of fire with an aim to join all three campuses and also bring together other community of people to feel the colors of another community. Among the activities were Indian traditional games, Ponggal cooking competition and the grand finale was tossing colors on each other for fun which is known as “Holi”. The day ended with laughter and joyful memories even though all were reluctant to head back to their respective campuses.

So, celebrations are a blessing where not only we are able to reconnect but also open the door to new connections which establish new friendships. Most importantly, the colors which come along with these celebrations are a reminder of the need to add new colors from time to time so that when one day you look back at the pool of colors you have designed it’ll be a wonderful memory. Take time to paint a memory every day and let it be a collection that will turn out to be an inspiring story or even a story which you can look back when there’s a need to laugh. Embrace the distance and put up a smile knowing that you will be missed back there and at the same time believe there’s something ahead you waiting to be explored.

Since there are multiple celebrations today, I’m wishing the very best for everyone and may the colors of life always bring the best and balance the angels and demons because boredom will strike even if it lacks either one. Enjoy the colors of life everyone!
