The lessons of the sea.

The wide sea always makes us wonder and feel intrigued about its serenity. It has the power to subdue the problems in our mind for a temporary moment and just engulf us in the cool breeze which gives us the inner calm that we require. At the same time, the sea can be dangerous too, where it has taken away innocent lives causing misery and fear in hearts of those who wish to take a dive in the sea. However, regardless of the level of risk or fun, the sea brings it will always stay close to our heart and it holds lessons which nurture us to become a better human.

There is a usual trend nowadays, which is writing names on the sand and clicking pictures of it on the beach. Some place footsteps together and get it recorded on their mobile device but at the end, all of it gets washed away. In life, it’s never easy to pave our footsteps in someone’s life or history. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. To stay in someone’s heart there must not be a resignation letter and to be in history there must be a frequent installation of oneself. It’s easy to get acquainted with a person but after knowing their true color it takes a lot of effort to put up with them at all times or else the relationship will get washed away like the names and footsteps on the beach. There may be a thousand reasons to say time is not on your side, but even when 1 minute is on your side grab it and make a difference. On the other hand, history will always uphold your achievements and good deeds when there’s perseverance despite the countless falls that you undergo. Those falls will determine you whether you are going to get up and rewrite your name or just let the waves wash it away erasing your mere existence. The choice is yours.

From above, the sea looks like all ordinary water surfaces on earth but when we go deep down that is where we will realize the true beauty. The coral reefs, the different species of fishes define the sea’s ecosystem as one of a kind since not all sea ecosystems are the same. As such, a person’s exterior will not judge their true nature. We have to go beyond those angered eyes, scrunched nose and wide smile to discover what their heart holds. We humans often get influenced by the words which get passed around and also by the facial features which may send a different message than the intended one. Everyone is unique in their own way and their bad qualities will always be the result of their unintentional acts accompanied with people’s hurtful actions. When we learn to accept the person for whom they are then the beauty of the individual radiates holding upon their special stand on the surface of the earth. 

Besides that, the wide sea show cast us the vast opportunities enlaced with the hurdles that are always ready to put us to test. Those professionals, who swim continuously for a long distance, would have undergone extreme training before attempting it. This is because the calm sea can become wild with crashing waves. Sea is often mentioned in love scenarios (in Tamil). For example, I’ve swim across seven seas to reach you. This shows the level of patience and sincere love towards the one and only. A promise can be sealed by anyone but to keep it, it’s never an easy task. The promise made is fragile, whereby fights can easily cause a crack and it may multiply over time. The crack will always remain there but it can be glued with the happiness of the present or it can be tightly resealed with unconditional love. So, life is a long journey and when love knocks the door one should be ready to swim across the sea and go through those different emotions of waves in order to successfully claim the person as yours.

A sea will be in its best version when you think it as a teacher and it’ll be another ordinary disowned property when you neglect it with your selfish actions such as polluting it with rubbish. Preserving the seas is in our hands and the lessons should be passed down to the next generation. The feeling of just sitting by the sea can never be replaced with any other fun activities. We can get our thoughts straight and revert back to our original self with just some moments by the seaside and let’s be thankful for the life we have since it’s wide, have some unexpected waves and most importantly there’s never an ending. 

Let the sea always be our kind reminder to enjoy the endless journey!
